  • Don't fall into the trap of thinking the Chen Clan Hall is too "touristy". This is a beautifully crafted corner of the city which displays the craftsmanship of China, the melding of East and West styles and some of the ethical/moral difficulties associated (which it does not shy away from). At the very least it's a perfect place to sit, relax and enjoy some stunning surroundings.
  • I was pleasantly surprised/impressed by this academic temple. It is well preserved and the artworks are impressive. Would be good to hire a guide to explain the meaning of the carving/statues etc. Try to find the little angels (evident of Christianity confluence during Qing Dynasty) cravings on one of the pillar.
