From archaeological finds to 17th-century paintings, Museo di Stato showcases a collection of historical artifacts originating from 1865, many of which outline the history of the region. Featuring nearly 5,000 pieces donated from all over the world, the museum houses pottery, coins, jewelry, and other archaeological finds. Visit the first floor to see paintings and ceramics donated to the Republic over time. The second floor is dedicated to paintings and other artistic donations from the Middle Ages and 19th century. In the basement you'll find prehistoric materials from the Greek, Egyptian, and Roman empires. Thorough museum considering the size of the country. None of it looked very exciting though and doesn't explain the history very clearly. However there are 4 floors of relics and paintings and some exhibitions Good displays of materials from history of Republic. Paintings ok but not great, relics amazing

The info in the folder said this was a museum of archeology AND history (of San Marino), and it lacked the latter completely. Very sparse info in any language but Italian, and NO info on the history of San Marino. No info on in which order to walk through the exhibition, stretching over several floors, both up and down from the entrance. Completely uninterested personnel minding their own business (reading magazines or speaking on the phone). I do not recommend choosing this museum when vising San Marino.
