Learnt quite a bit of history in there, particularly how amongst the overseas Chinese there was a strong sense of nationalism and identification with the motherland. Today are such sentiments still as strong with first generation migrants? If so, how much of that identity is transmitted to the next generation? Having been there, I think this monument is an important marker of our evolving identity.

Heritage architecture and air-con...what more could you ask for? This boutique museum is just gorgeous and gives you a fascinating insight into Singapore's history around the turn of the century with a focus on Dr. Sun Yat Sen. Located nearby to a small modern shopping center and many nice restaurants for lunch including Pistachio Middle Eastern & Mediterranean Grill.
