Little more than a small town at the turn of the 20th century, Dushanbe grew rapidly during the Soviet era and now serves as the national capital and home to nearly 800,000 people.
Venture out of the city with trips to Hisor (Hisor HIstorical and Cultural Preserve & Hisor Fortress). And it doesn't end there: stroll around Rudaki Park, don't miss a visit to Anzob Tunnel (Tunnel of Death), have some family-friendly fun at Kokhi Navruz, and take in the awesome beauty at Fann Mountains.

The main town of the Pamirs, Khorog sits in a steep river valley at the point where two rivers meet.
On the 10th (Fri), admire the natural beauty at Botanical Garden, walk around Khorog City Park, pause for some photo ops at National Flag of Tajikistan, then contemplate the waterfront views at Bulunkul Lake, then witness a stunning natural landmark at Garm Chashma, and finally browse the eclectic array of goods at Afghan Market.
