  • Hurricane Ridge is one of the highlights of Olympic National Park. We didn't do any hiking while we were up there but we could see the glaciers and there was a ranger outside talking about the glacier...  more »

  • If you love the snow and spectacular mountain views, Hurricane Ridge is a beautiful adventure. The thrills begin at the base of the range in the town of Port Angeles. Stop at the ranger station to buy a yearly pass and get a taste of what you'll see in the Olympic National Park. From the ranger station, head south...and up...and up, for 17 miles. Did I mention up? That's right. 17 miles up to a height of 5300 feet above sea level. The air is thinner, and the sky is crisp. Spring is a perfect time to see the white caps in all their glory. Summer time is when you can view the Milky Way in all its glory. Stay up there as long as you can. There are a number of trails (summer) and wildlife is abundant. Take you time going back down and don't be afraid to pull over in a parking area to give your cars brakes a rest. Your best bet is to use a lower gear and let the transmission do the work on keeping your pace.
  • Absolutely stunning, enjoyable walk, and friendly staff to help answer questions. I would recommend this to anyone you get amazing views from the parking lot, you don’t have to hike at all.
