  • Not quite as spectacular as the Citadel in Hue but definitely worth a visit. You are given a map at the ticket office with a suggested route, which is worth following, as you could otherwise miss so.....  more »

  • Great place for some sightseeing or historical research. Accessible. There are other historical location nearby, so it's great if you are up for some binge sightseeing. Don't go there on Sunday as students loves to go there to get photos for their yearbook
  • Interesting to read and think about how the imperial citadel, which used to be reserved only for royalty, has transitioned into being opened up for the people of Vietnam and also foreign tourists. I enjoyed seeing the pictures of sports events taking place on the citadel court some 20 years ago, and putting that in contrast with the exclusivity this place held for so many centuries. Also, ascending the walls of the inner palace offers a good view over the citadel's gardens. Entrance fee is just above $1 (30.000 VD).
