Perched on a single stone pillar erected in the middle of a lotus pond, One Pillar Pagoda rises like a flower from the water. Climb a dozen stairs to access this iconic 11th-century wooden temple and see its gilt statue of Guanyin, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, surrounded by colorful offerings. Many people come to pray to this goddess for fertility. Originally built in the midst of a swamp, this tiny temple with flying eaves now overlooks a small lotus pool inside a tranquil park. A popular spot included in most tours of Hanoi, the temple holds many prayer ceremonies throughout the day. As the name says the pagoda is on top of one pillar and is small but beautiful...Pillar stands around and one is allowed to go up few stairs to pray... quite a popular tourist place..lot of greenery around and one can spend time enjoying walk in nature. Nice ambience

Nice building but not that special if you are not a believer. If you go to the mausoleum you'll see it anyways on your way back out of the area. Plenty of shops around it where you can but everything. Looks nice at night regarding the other pictures here.
