  • Small but well-designed and pleasant park opposite the German Embassy, this public space is open 24 hours and although it has its vagrants, and men who feel the need to go around in pairs or groups, feels pretty safe primarily because of the Vietnamese guards patrolling the German enclave. The statue of Lenin’s obviously a notable feature, but honestly it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. In fact I would have preferred one celebrating Marx, after his shrewd analysis of exploitation and surplus value. Surprisingly a lot of giant trees skirting this square surrounded by traffic on all sides, and even in winter flowery blooms on some of the shrubbery. There are isolated benches along some of the paths, so it’s meant to be walked rather than positioned in. Directly in front of the statue is an open concrete space frequently used by skateboarders - mostly Vietnamese - but it’s also employed by locals as a 5-a-side pitch of sorts. Unlike the embassy you won’t be pestered to stop taking photographs here.
  • Nothing special. Don't worth to go there on purpose, you can see it on your way to the mausoleum. The only nice thing is the green area around.
