A little off the beaten path, Mosquito Island remains something of a hidden gem for snorkeling. The sixth and last island in the Phi Phi group, this remote spot offers exceptional collections of animal and marine life, including plenty of colorful schools of fish. Take a short boat ride from the town and snorkel right off the deck. The clear turquoise water contrasts against the rocks rising above its surface, making a perfect photo op. Because of the shallow waters, try to time your visit with high tide, when the coral is just 3 m (10 ft) below. Closer to the shore the coral reveals some wear and tear, but if you venture farther out you will be nicely surprised. The island is beautiful and be watched from the boat. Tourists are not allowed to get down at the island. We visited the place on our four island visit to phi phi. Beautiful and scenic place.

Amazing place. We used to visit and snorkel the waters around Mosquito Island a lot, though I've heard it's currently closed for rehabilitation. But boy, what a place! The text-book desert island beach on the Southeast side makes for easy snorkelling. The Northwest side has (or at least had) the most corals, but is much rockier. Baby Tiger sharks, Lionfish, Coral Squids and Cuttlefish were just some of the local residents. Get there early morning to beat the Chinese group tourist boats. Just go prepared, be sensible and stay safe, there's no phone signal, sometimes you can be the only visitors there and the nearest help is about 5 miles away over water.
